CnSand Portuguese Water Dogs

“Where Attitude is Everything”

I have been involved with Portuguese Water Dogs since 1992.  My journey in PWDs began with the purchase of Rasta (Ch. KnollKrest Deewal Kroupier GC TDI, bred by the late Lew Grello and Claire McLean).  Rasta was my first PWD and first show dog.  I owner-handled Rasta to his championship, even showing him at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. 

From my wonderful introduction to the breed through today, I have dedicated significant time to the Portuguese Water Dog community.  I have served for three terms on the Portuguese Water Dog Club of America (PWDCA) Board, as well I have demonstrated past service as a Vice President of the Portuguese Water Dog Foundation and as a Board Member of the Nutmeg PWD Club.

I have also served as a judge in three countries!!  I was recently selected as the Breeder Judge at the 2017 PWDCA Top 20 held in conjunction with the National Specialty! I also completed (8/15) a very exciting assignment as the Puppy and Veteran Sweepstakes judge at the 2015 PWDCA National Specialty where the entry was 147!  What an honor and a thrill!   I have also judged supported entry sweepstakes in the United States, Regional Specialty Sweepstakes in Canada, and the National Specialty in Sweden. 

I am an AKC Breeder of Merit participant. 

Though I enjoy grooming and showing my dogs myself, orthopedic issues have prevented me from showing regularly the past 7 plus years.  With my most recent hip replacement in December 2012 I have slowly and occasionally been showing again!!

Though I must offer a huge debt of gratitude to those who have shown CnSand dogs for me:  Thanks to Jen & Rick Kreiger, Jamie Donolson, Cindy O’Connor, and especially Erika Griesbach.  

CnSand dogs have had success in both Conformation and Performance Sports.  My dogs have earned numerous championships (in AKC, UKC, and Swedish Kennel Club), including Best in Specialty Show, Grand Championship(s),  Best of Opposite Specialty Show, Top Ten PWD Breed Points, Top 10 PWD All-Breed Points, Group 1, Working group placements, Westminster Best of Opposite, Multiple Awards of Merit, Supported Entry BOB, National Specialty Bred By Exhibitor Class Winner, Specialty Winners Dog, Best Veteran, Veteran Group placements, Puppy Group Winner, and more!

On the performance front I have bred the Number one Obedience PWD for 2012, High in Obedience Trial(s) Winner, and Water and Agility title holders. 

Though truly, what I am most proud of is that CnSand PWDs bring immeasurable joy and happiness to their families.  They may “just be a pet” but there is no higher compliment then to receive phone calls, emails, and photos from owners sharing the joy their dog brings to their life. 

I am proud of the CnSand dogs and their success as I am blessed with wonderful owners who work hard with their dogs. 

None of my success would have been possible without the multitude of people who have mentored me along the way, or those that have entrusted me with their priceless pedigrees.  Thank you for your hard work and friendship!
